Egypt confirmed on Saturday 30/5/2009 the 77th human bird flu case after a child had contracted the H5N1 virus in Dakahlia, Nile Delta, the Spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population Abdel-Rahman Shahin said.
Shahin said Sayeda Mahmoud El-Adel, 14 months, contracted the virus from infected birds.
The child showed symptoms of infection on May 25 then she was admitted to hospital, suffering from high temperature and a running nose.
She was given the antiviral Tamiflu and she is now in a stable condition.
