On Wednesday 18/3/2009, the bird flu human infection No. 59 was confirmed. Zeinab Moustafa Abdel Rasoul, aged 38 years, from el-Masara village, el-Fath, Asyout governorate, contracted the virus from infected birds.

The symptoms of the disease appeared on her on Saturday 14/3/2009. She was admitted to the Fever Hospital in Asyout on the same day. She was suffering from high fever and cough after being exposed to dead birds suspected of being infected with bird flu. She was given the antiviral vaccine Tamiflu.
