New human bird flu case detected in Egypt

“A new human bird flu case was confirmed in Fayyoum governorate, taking to 47 the number of cases contracting the disease in the country since its outbreak early in 2006,” Health Ministry spokesman Abdel-Rahman Shahin said Saturday 7/3/2008.
An eight-year-old boy from "Braik Qalmasha" village was admitted to Fayyoum Fever Hospital suffering from bird flu symptoms, including high temperature, respiratory problems and pneumonia, the spokesman said.
Abdel-Hamid Youssef was later moved to Manshiat el-Bakri Hospital in Cairo to continue his medical treatment, the spokesman added.
