New human bird flu case in Egypt
A new human bird flu case was detected Saturday in the governorate of Qlyubiya, said the Egyptian Health Ministry.
Four-year-old Mariam Abdul-Fattah tested positive to the avian flu, said Ministry Spokesman Abdul-Rahman Shahin.
The young child was admitted to hospital with high temperature after being in contact infected birds, he added.
The child has started taking Tamiflu and her condition is now stable, he noted.
The spokesman said that efforts were under way to trace those who have contacted the infected birds.
Saturday's case is the 32nd since the H5N1 strain was first detected in Egypt.
Six people died of the avian flu, 13 recovered and 6 others are still being treated.
