Ministry of Health confirms negativity of the suspected cases

The Ministries of Health and Environment and all the bird flu-concerning authorities are continuing their protective procedures and follow-up any infection case in the governorates besides their campaigns of awareness, fearing the return of the disease.

The Ministry of Health made it clear that there are only 15 bird flu human infection since the disease was discovered in March. 7 cases were dead of which the last one was registered on 30/10/2006 in the City of Sammanoud, Gharbiya Governorate. The bird flu mortality rate reached 46%, a low percentage than the world record of 55%.

Now, there are no other human infected cases than the announced ones, Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Mageed, General Manager of the Abbasiya Thorax Hospital said. The daily announced cases are only suspected, not the final result of infection, he added.

The Ministry of Health finalized the training of 9.000 personnel of the concerned ministries in 18 governorates to quickly contain the disease and activating the epidemic detection of it, particularly that now the immigrating birds could reach, as stated by the Ministry of Environment one million birds.

The Ministry of Environment completed preparations of the Autumn season, the birds immigration season to Egypt, as random samples of 5.000 birds will be taken to be tested in cooperation with the American Research Unit of NAMERO and other well-trained cadres in the Ministry of Environment.

Engineer Mohammed Ibrahim, Chief Commander of the Reserves confirmed the banning of the wild hunting, calling citizens to stop breeding domestic birds, at least during this period.

Yesterday, Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Abdul-Qadir, 63 years old, on pension, living in the Oguizzi area in Tanta Governorate was kept in the hospital for being suspected bird flu infected. He was primarily given a dose of the Tamiflu medication until the final analysis be released.
