Dr. Maged Othman, head of the Cabinet's Information Center said in a speech on 22/4/2009, before the first conference for the management of crises and disasters, organized by the Cabinet's Information Center in cooperation with the German Adenauer Foundation that it has become an urgent need to develop scenarios for the proper and successful deal with crises and disasters.

He stressed the importance of raising the level of preparedness at all levels of the state and strengthen coordination and cooperation among all sectors and stakeholders to mitigate the negative effects of crises and disasters, with the work to raise the level of awareness of citizens in order to efficiently and effectively deal with various crises and disasters and to promote voluntary action in this regard.

He added that the Egyptian government has supported efforts to improve the national system for crisis management and disaster risk reduction.
