A 4-year-old kid died of bird flu in Daqahlia on Monday 18/05/2009, bringing the number of fatalities of the H5N1 virus to 27, Health Ministry Spokesman Abdel-Rahman Shahin said.

The child contracted the virus on May 9 and checked into hospital while suffering Pneumonia, the spokesman said.

The avian flu was first detected in Egypt in February 2006.
